Can You Take Your Emotional Support Donkey Aboard a Plane | 2021 Guide

But there are certain rules associated with ESAs. Especially, if you are thinking of traveling with one. You have probably heard that you can travel with an ESA. And that is true. But only if you have an great pyrenees letter. Without that, I am afraid your plans for traveling will be left behind. But if you do have the letter then you can take certain ESAs on board with you. All of this depends on the airline you want to travel with.

The Case of Donkeys!

I am about to give you some bad news. You can’t travel with a donkey, even if it is your ESA. I know, it's not fair.

But those are the rules followed by most airlines.

You see, most of the airlines do allow some ESAs to come on board. But, they also have many rules and regulations regarding those ESAs.

Unfortunately for siamese cat , donkeys don’t fit the description.

Here are the rules that you have to follow :

Rule #1: The Size

When you are traveling with an animal, even if it is an ESA, its size makes all the difference. So, even if you have an emotional support animal letter with you that says that your donkey is an ESA, you won’t be allowed to travel in most cases.

You see, airlines demand that you have an animal that can easily fit in your lap or at the foot of your seat.

I should not occupy more space than that and for a donkey, that is not possible.

Rule #2: Training

Another problem that you are going to face with an ESA donkey is the training. I know donkeys are well-behaved creatures but airlines demand a kind of discipline that donkeys don’t have.

So, if you want to travel with your donkey then you won’t be able to take calico cat is as an ESA.

Although you may be allowed to transport it as a pet separately.

Rule #3: Health and Grooming

This is one of the most important issues that you will be faced with if you want to travel with an ESA.

Airlines will want to make sure that your ESA is healthy and well-groomed.

It should not have any diseases, allergies, or bugs attached to its coat. If that is the case then there is no way you will be allowed to take an ESA onboard.

So, whichever ESA you choose, make sure to keep maltipoo healthy.

Rule #4: No Reptiles Please

There is a list of creatures that are forbidden on flights. Some animals have been labeled as unusual and will not be allowed on flight no matter what.

Luckily, donkeys are not one of them.

It’s actually reptiles that are not allowed on flights.

Reptiles, rodents, or insects are a big no-no. So, it's best if you don’t think of getting them as an ESA because you can face quite a lot of trouble.

Options for You!

So, if you can’t take a donkey aboard, what can you do?

#1: If you haven’t gotten an ESA yet then get one that is easy to travel with. A cat, dog, or bird should cause you no problem.

#2: If you do have a donkey as an ESA then try to have it travel separately with other animals.

#3: Try contacting the airlines and asking for any case in which they can make an exception.
