  • 1.  Part 2 Discount Table

    Posted 13 days ago

In the CMA Exam Support package, for several practice exam questions regarding NPV and IRR, the answers reference a discount/NPV value table to complete the answer (referencing time period and/or $ amount and/or %return/discount). Is this table something we are expected to memorize, or is provided, or is available on a certain type of calculator allowed for the exam?

Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

Hello! The time value table is given, but I suggest you should also learn how to calculate them manually. Good luck on your exam!

These tables are provided in the gleim book at the back. For actual exam they will also provide you these tables so you do not need to memorize anything. You just need to learn how to look at the tables for your relevant questions.

You are not expected to memorize it. The table for simple and annuity is provided.

However, i would suggest that you understand how to compute the PV factor using the financial calculator (mine was TI BA 2 Plus)
Also, explore how to get the NPV and IRR using the financial calculator as this would give you a good advantage compared to computing it manually per year.

Most questions in the exam regarding "What is the NPR" or "What is the IRR" involves 5 year cashflow scenario. So you can imagine how long it would take if you will do this manually.
