A preliminary paper that may interest this Sustainable Business Management SIG is "Monthly Reporting on Organization Performance", recently filed with SSRN. It includes seventeen hypotheses on a monthly financial summary and monthly operational summary that may enable an organisation to track important data promptly, systematically, and objectively, every month.

Discussion in the paper includes supplementary forecasting, compliance, going concern early warnings, and accidents. The approach facilitates a CEO to keep a watchful eye on financial and operational metrics each month, while planning and implementing strategic changes for an organization.

An abstract is available at https://ssrn.com/abstract=4830384

The full paper can be downloaded without obligations from the site for free. It includes a brief review of contributions on research papers on strategic planning, mentions practical experience at three major accidents, refers to international professional standards, and provides worked examples of monthly reports. Constructive discussion and feedback may contribute to the ongoing evolution of monthly reporting practices.

This paper provides foundational information that could serve as a starting point for a deeper dive into this topic.  I am planning on putting into my course website for my students to acces for their final projects on scorecard reporting.
