Hi everyone,

I completed my CMA (US) 1.5 years ago alongside earning my BBA in Finance and Accountancy from St. Joseph's College of Commerce. After finishing my studies, I was excited to start a career in finance and accounting, but to my surprise, I've struggled to find opportunities in the field, especially as a fresher.

This has made me wonder: is pursuing a CMA still worth it in today's job market? For those of you who've gone through a similar experience, how did you navigate this challenge and land a role?

Also, if anyone has advice on how I can secure a job in Bangalore, India, or knows of opportunities in the area, I would truly appreciate your guidance.

Wishing you a happy new year ahead! 

I completed my CMA along with my bachelors around 2 years ago and I agree with you finding a job in this market even with a CMA designation has been rough. I was particularly interested to go into the finance/ costing side which is what the certification aligns more with but to my surprise not many people were willing to hire an individual even with a CMA designation. I had moved out of India by then and landed a job in taxation and so far what I have heard from peers and colleagues is that a CMA designation may help you move forward with roles for ex: if you are working as a cost accountant and having completed this CMA can help you progress more into a corporate controller position etc. it's more of like a ladder to help you climb the corporate success wall but not necessarily the ticket which will land you a job right away.  This is what I could infer from my experience as I am still wishing to pursue opportunities which align more with what we had studied in CMA
