If AI is your very capable assistant, what would you delegate?

  • 1.  If AI is your very capable assistant, what would you delegate?

    Hello Fin and Tech enthusiast,

With the soaring stock prices of tech companies and "AI" becoming an attribute in almost everything, the boom is evident. When the question of "What can AI do?" gets a new answer day by day with the increasing possibilities for it's application,

the real question is what would you like AI to do?

Share one task that you currently do that you would like your AI assistant to do it for you and tell us why?

" I would want AI to bring me coffee and get my car serviced" is totally an acceptable answer, so is "AI in facilitating integration across platforms, and analyzing unstructured feedbacks to discover trends etc."

    I love this question, Stalin.

I would like AI to coordinate and plan my business travel - airline reservation, visa applications, hotels, cars etc. I'm sure my exec assistant would agree too! This would free up many hours for higher level work focused on delivering member value.

    Thank you Michael,

I couldn't agree more. Truly, the best place to start integrating AI or GenAI would be to help us better focus on the core objectives, the ones that carry a relatively higher value as you have rightly pointed out.

For anyone reading this thread,  wondering why the core activities aren't delegated to AI, I would like to share a recent report published by BCG titled Innovation Systems Need a Reboot  that gives a possible reason and some insights.

    Between 2022 and 2024, the Innovation Readiness of the organizations has dramatically reduced while the Innovation Prioritization has increased. Organizations have increasingly prioritized innovating but the real question is;

"Is the organization ready to transition?"

What would be an indicator that you would factor in when answering this question?

I would like AI to provide recommendations to my client, especially when clients are not following procedure (compliance).  I hope for this to deliver client care and value.

Interesting point Karen, I think AI has great scope in compliance especially in domains where multiple regulatory rules apply. It could without doubt save time and help us avoid negative consequences or in worst cases, hefty fines.

Would be happy to hear more about any specific compliance issue that you think AI or Machine Learning could tackle.

Excellent report, thanks for sharing, Stalin.
Aligning business strategy to innovation strategy is a key takeaway. I would also underscore the importance of prioritizing what the business works on. Most innovation strategies fail because of poor execution that can be traced back to lack of focus and trying to "boil the ocean"….

I would like AI to take bigger role in the industry sector. For example in High current/voltage substation to subtitute the threat to human life with machines.

I completely agree with your point Khalid. I think the advancements in AI or robotics should also drive innovations in roles that carry high risks to human life as you have pointed out.

Would be nice to hear more about any advancements that are already in use.

Great question to start off with! My employer has been asking this very question. There are several ways I personally hope for AI to make my team's data governance tasks easier, to enhance our governance framework and to reduce risk:

    1. Data discovery and classification - to automatically discover and classify data across the organization to facilitate better governance and compliance
    2. Data lineage and audit trails to help understand data flows and ensure compliance
    3. Automated data quality management to identify anomalies, recommend corrective actions and automate data cleansing processes
    4. Training and education - to offer personalized training modules/learning paths based on individual roles and educational resources on data governance practices and compliance requirements

That's a great answer, thank you, Valarie.

The possibility of AI being integrated to Data, especially in terms of compliance and maintaining the quality of Data, would be remarkable. However, do you think such an integration would have any downsides, especially in respect to the privacy of Data?

Also, great perspective on the possible role of AI in Training and Education. I think the same can be applied in training for all most all major disciplines. Having a customized learning path effectively saves a lot of time.

Extremely important points made by all.

I would like to touch on Valerie's excellent post- point 1 and Stalin's response:

1-  Data discovery and classification - to automatically discover and classify data across the organization to facilitate better governance and compliance

Being reasonably automated with "single source of truth" ERP systems prevalent, are we saying that these ERP systems be infused by AI bots to discover and classify information being fed through already existing data entry rules? or are we suggesting replacing ERP's with AI systems trained to do the discovery and classification? if so, indeed "discovery" would be an excellent add on feature currently suboptimal.

How about also integrating the organizational systems with market, industry (publicly available information) discoveries and automatically feeding into the correct classifications within the organization? That continue to have significant challenges under the current AI capabilities but surely this will continue to improve

On the privacy debate- a question which arises is as to whether any information on institutional servers has individual privacy issues? in other words would any discovery and classification done by bots on such company data have privacy issues (except specific info streams). I am not a lawyer but as this privacy debate rages, I find this particular anomaly difficult to resolve while accepting that these issues indeed appear many a times.
