I'd like to add another book recommendation. This book is a novel that traces the growth of a company's controller, Marcella, from traditional financial reporting oriented to an internal decision support oriented business partner. It's a compelling story, filled with interesting and actionable examples, and the controller is guided by the spirit of Major J. Lee Nicholson, founder of IMA.
The book is Profitable Expectations: An Accountant Rising to the Challenge by Douglas Hicks. It is available on Amazon: Profitable Expectations: An Accountant Rising to the Challenge: Hicks, Douglas T.: 9781735679600: Amazon.com: Books
I believe this book should be required reading in all entry level management accounting courses...It is that good and that important.
