For those that have passed the CMA exam, did you take an online prep course, or just study on your own? Also, how many hours did you dedicate to studying/preparing for the exam before taking it?

I used a self study course, CMA Exam Academy. I spent about an hour before work on weekdays, 2 hours after work, and then a few hours each on Saturday/Sunday.

I passed CMA part 1 ,Self study using Hock study materials 

Now preparing for Part using Hock study materials

I study 14-16 hours per week,some days 1+ Hours some days 2+hours like that

I bought a used Wiley 2021 CPA prep package for very little money, then viewed the full portfolio of the video series presented free of charge by FTC Global - YouTube  , and studied for about 100 hours per CMA part in the 3-4 weeks before my scheduled test time.  Make sure whatever sources and methods you chose, pay very close attention to the contents of the test as advised by IMA.  I found the guidance provided aligned pretty well to my testing experiences.  The single and only topic that I thought was presented in much higher percentage than the recommendations suggested were IT topics.

Just by my opinion, HOCK much better than CMA academy. I bought both HOCK, Academy, used Gleim (Canceled because too expensive),  prefer to HOCK for best value.

Gleim maybe better but too expensive, Becker I bought CPA, but do not very like the style of Becker.

For CMA exams, I think use HOCK is enough to pass.

Hi,

I didn't join any coaching and passed both the exam using HOCK materials. I spent approx. 120 hours for Part 1 and 100 hours for part 2. I think one recognized materials from any publisher (Hock, Gliem, Backer or other) is enough provided we focus on concepts and practice of question and answers. I used youtube videos where the concepts were not clear. My best wishes for future CMAs.
