    Hello,

Posting for the benefit of future exam takers. Little background I'm an MBA and a CFA L2 candidate working as a Financial Controller.

I took the CMA part 2 today. I completely self studied (no videos) only read the Hock material. Read and highlighted section C-F in one month and section A-B in one month. And practiced ESP and HOCK MCQs for 1 month. Took 2 mock exams 1 week prior and 2 days prior to actual exam just so I have enough time to go over mistakes I made. 1 day before exam went through all the highlighted text in all 6 sections. I usually Averaged about 80% but I always wondered how closely does Hock match with the actual exam and I believe the difficulty matches perfectly. I have read reviews on this forum that state Gleim is unnecessarily difficult but I rarely read anything about HOCK. So for the benefit of future exam takers I just want to tell you don't doubt it or stress about it. Have faith in the Hock material you'll be fine.  I did go through to the essay section. One thing that did help me during the exam is I had decided at what time I should be on which question. For example in 30 mins I should be on q18, 1 hr in q36 1.5 hrs q55 etc to finish my MCQs 10 mins in advance giving me enough time for essays. I will come back to report the result in 6 weeks.

I appreciate your insight on Hock Material. I am studying part one with Hock Material. I have experience as a financial analyst and currently as general ledger accounting. I've always wondered how intense or lack thereof the Hock Material was to actual exam.  Thank you.

    Hi all,

I had referred Hock and ESP for my part 1 preparations. Practiced MCQs only from these two materials for 3 months and I cleared my exam in first attempt. Essays were referred from ESP. I tried going through Gleim and found most questions to be same as HOCK or ESP. But I felt explanations given in HOCK was easier and more understandable. This is my personal opinion. But I do want to reassure everyone that the more you practice, the better you have a chance at clearing. The questions that appear during the exams are different from the ones you practice.

    Dear Meera

I am preparing with Wiley study material only. Do you have any idea if this alone will suffice?

    Thanks and regards

Wiley is good.  They are the official review CMA review course of the IMA.  I used them for my studies and felt prepared.  Once you register for the exam, you'll receive a CMA review support package.  This has hundreds of retired exam questions (both MCQ and essay).  Be sure to practice those problems as well.

As promised, I am writing back with my result. I passed with flying colors!! Way above the minimum required score. I would've passed even if I left the essay questions blank.. :p
