  • 1.  Company vehicle policy

I was hoping to get some feedback on a question I have regarding company vehicle policies.  We are a medium sized agriculture company with sales of around $100M annually.  We have several company vehicles that are used by a number of employees ranging from field representatives to executive management.  These vehicles are taken home each day by the respective employees.  We have a very simple company vehicle policy that doesn't go into much detail other than driving safely and maintaining the vehicle.  All vehicle maintenance items are charged to and paid for by the company, including fuel expense.  What I am finding is that some of the employees are charging car washes to the vehicles once or twice a month.  While I feel that it is important to keep your vehicle clean I'm more of the opinion that the users of these vehicles are provided with a fairly nice perk, so it seems reasonable that they could pay for the car wash out of their own funds and not charge it to the company.  However, I am having trouble finding a policy online that addresses this kind of expense.  Maybe I'm making more out of this than I should, but I wanted to see if someone has some direct experience with this and if I can get access to a company vehicle policy for reference.  I appreciate any insight anyone can provide.

    Thank you,

    Robert M.
