  • 1.  1099 filing - who gets 1099 when paying lawyer in escrow

    Who does the company issue a 1099 to when a payment is made to a lawyer to hold in escrow for the third party that provided services?  Is the law firm requried to file 1099 for payment to third party when they issue check?

    John,

    The law firm will issue the Form 1099 upon payment since they are the ones writing the check.  You will issue your 1099 to the law firm for the payment.
