  • 1.  CMA Part 1 - Wiley Study Materials

    Posted 09-15-2020 12:35 PM
    Hi,

I am currently using the Wiley study materials for CMA Par 1 (exam date end of Feb. 20201).  I have the following questions:

    1.  Does anyone know how to access the Wiley Test Bank Essay questions' answers?  If you do, can you please provide a step by step on how to do this.  When I switch to the Essay questions in the Test Bank, the Test Bank does NOT allow me to choose Study mode (which is how I would get the answers for Multiple Choice questions).

    2.  If you used Wiley study materials, did  you find the Wiley study materials sufficient or did you have to add on (like with Hock)?

Any feedback on these questions would be great.

    Good luck studying.

    Regards,

    Charles Chen

    In Wiley,

Click on the Test Bank Icon on the left menu:

Mode: Choose Exam or Study: There really is no difference except the study tells you if you're correct or not. You may want to build up confidence by choosing study.

Source: Choose Test Bank or Assessment,,,I choose Test Bank

Type: Multiple Choice or Essay ....your choice.

You will find if you choose exam select 100 for MCQ so it feels like an exam and it does have a timer to show that you have 4 hours to complete the test.

The good thing is it is random each time you test yourself but many questions do appear over and over.

The exam uses mostly CMA adapted questions.

As far as the Wiley prep to the exam; I found part 1 to be very hard. The IT systems study material does not prepare you for the questions very well including the Wiley questions. I read study guides and find the questions are from another universe!

Wiley seems to simple for me. It test for fundamentals but did not truly prepare me for the critical thinking and deep interpretation of the questions in the exam.

An example was process costing problems. In Wiley PC is straight forward (at least for me) but the exam had two process cost problems with "normal and abnormal spoilage issues" as part of the problem Which Wiley doesn't go deep into that.

I also had an essay on TRANSFER PRICING! That was the last thing I needed because that's my weakness. The essay was very confusing to figure out and very descriptive. It truly was a case study while Wiley test for the fundamentals.

According to Wiley, I should get a 90+ on part one and I'm waiting for my score in six weeks but I'll be happy if I pass by one point.

Don't get me wrong, Wiley is good but I also bought Surgent to supplement as Surgent is very hard.

Now, keep in mind, there are 10 questions that CMA puts in the exam that are being tested for future exams and we are not graded on them. In reality, we are graded on 90 MCQ. However, we don't know what those questions are. So don't spend too much time on any question you are overwhelmed with. Flag it, go back if you have time and guess if you have to.

You need more than an hour for essays. I suggest 1 hour and 15 minutes.

It is passable so good luck.

    Peter Berardi,

I am so impressed by your expression. It sound as if you had worked very hard on this with thorough understanding of the subject.

and it seems that you are using online material while I do not.

    Thank you for your sharing.
