    Hey ,

I have my exam coming up next week and was wondering if a Casio scientific calculator was allowed for the part 1 exam or if I have to use a basic calculator. Anyone have any clue?

    Hi Craig,

From what I've heard, it has to be a basic calculator. Scientific calculators are not allowed.

    Calculator Policy

Small battery or solar powered electronic calculators restricted to a maximum of six functions –addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square root, and percentage are allowed. The calculator must not be programmable and must not use any type of tape. Candidates can also use the Texas Instrument's BA II Plus, Hewlett- Packard 10BII, HP 12c, or HP 12c Platinum calculators when taking the exams. Candidates will not be allowed to use calculators that do not comply with these restrictions

Hi Craig, stick to the list in the CMA manual. I was not allowed to take a TI BA II - "Professional", but the basic TI BA II is allowed. I even took a printout of the IMA statement to prove it.
For Part I a basic calculator did just fine. For Part II it would be good to have a better model like the BAII for NPV and IRR calculations.
    Good luck.

    Hi,

You can use a basic calculator, and start using it for practice sessions so that you could easily use it in your exam.
