  • 1.  Need suggestions what to do - whether I should study for part 1?

I gave part 2 exam on 13 July. I was able to get to essays section. I found out that the MCQs were not very tough. However, all my friends said that the MCQs they got were "very tough". I felt that the questions were a mix of easy, moderate and tough. The essay had 12 questions, and I have answered all of them. The essay answers ranged from average answer to satisfactory answer, as per my understanding.

For MCQs: I think i guessed 5-7 questions because some of the were in no manner doable. Additionally, I explicitly remember marking 2 MCQs wrong, i later remembered my mistake in them. Of corse, apart form this there must be other mistakes as well.

For essays: I think one essay was tough and the other was fine. The time was ticking, I could have written much more. Now, i am not sure what is a good answer in essay. There were so many sub parts to the first essay, including 2 questions that i was taken aback looking at them. I managed to write average answers in some and satisfactory answers in others. I was able to write in bullets in some questions and in paragraphs in other, all due to the ticking clock. However, i read a post where a person said that he has done fairly well in essays, still failed and his report cited "unsatisfactory" for the essay part.

Now, I am getting head aches thinking about what will happen as waiting 2 months is seriously much. Sometimes I feel confident, sometimes i don't. I am reading discussions posts where people end up getting 350 even when they think they have done well in exam. And this scaled score technique is making me not reaching to a point of understanding about how i actually did in my exam. Then again, as per Hock and Gliem, 10/100 questions are pretest and will not be included in the final result. There are so many things. I am really confused, whether I should study for part 1 or not?

    Dear Nupur,

Please don't stress about the exam results too much...
You have studied and given your best on the exam day.

Though stress about the result is obvious and natural I can understand coz I am also waiting for the part 2 results.
But there is nothing one can do but wait for the results.

Mean while u can take a break and start preparing for the other part which will keep you busy with available time and manage your stress.

    Regards

    HI Nupur,

These are the precise thoughts everyone goes through after giving the exams. but only giving the exams is in your hands. Results are not. Focus on the controllable factors also....Relax and probably take a break or go other regular things for a month or two. OR probably prepare for part 1 after results are out. It is ok. do not feel you will lose time waiting.  All this is part and parcel of the examination process. Based on what you have written, you may be able to sail through.

    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Dear Nupur,

If you have done reasonably good in essays, you have a very good chance of clearing.. Don't stress too much and start preparing for other Part.

I had given Part 1 first and had the same dilemma, but thought that rather than wasting precious time, would continue to start preparing Part 2 (Atleast start reading the material completely). And I did that and by God's grace, cleared part 1 in the first attempt, with slightly better than expectations.. (I had missed 1 essay question out of total of around 11, but you have attempted all, which is even more better).

If you clear the exam, you have saved precious time and within another 2 months can sit for other part. Worst, if you fail, you just have to revise and improve the weak areas and give the uncleared exam again.. In either case, you making optimum use of your time.

    All the best,

    Regards,

    Hi Nupur,

Better way to get out of this situation is to start preparing for Part1.
As you mentioned in your post , I am also in the same situation. I am also waiting for my Part 2 result.
I was also able to attend essay , but not sure about how the result would be....Fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!

So I tried to leave it at there, and started preparing for PART1 and I am planning to write this on October end.

So don't think too much and keep busy by preparing for part1. All the best.....

    Best Regards
