  • 1.  Grading of the Essay portion!?

    Posted 02-28-2020 02:42 AM
So I just did the exam rehearsal and graded my essay... from the start of the question, I was already off. Which lead to the wrong answers and equations for ALL of the following questions. But I did show step by step and that I understand the process and concept. Do they give partial credit at all for that? Its very disappointing to think that if you were off one calculation the entire essay is failed.

    Hello Arvin,

According to Wiley (IMA's official partner & CMA No.1 course provider) essay question has a multi grading system which splits your answer presentation to:
    • Core concepts coverage
    • Calculations
    • Results
    • Structured general presentation
So, if you have covered a 100% of essay question but your results were wrong, you will not get any score of "Correct results" only and still you will get a score for the rest of other presented areas.
IMA exam graders don't apply any penalty for wrong answer, and they do give a credit for correct concept, calculation & presentation, because the basic idea behind essay section is testing our knowledge, analytical thinking, decision making making and the way we present that.

Conclusion: Don't worry my fried, definitely you will get some credit points for answering those essays, despite of "wrong numbers".

Wish you good luck & success

    Regards
