The passing score for the CMA is 360, which represents 66%-67% of the points available in both MC and essay. A candidate need only 50% to go on to the essays, but 50% is far below level needed to pass.

Minimum required is :72% ie. 360/500

    MCQ - 375

    Essay-125

So, you need atleast above 80% in MCQ and minimum 50% in Essay to meet 360-370 marks.
This is what success of CMA. Because, achieving 80% in MCQ's makes sure that your understandings on all the topics are well and good.

If you are less than 80% in MCQs, will not be able to succeed. Because, your understanding of topics are below margin and it will lead to less than 350 marks.

    Pallavi,

To pass CMA you need to score 360 out of total 500. Ideally 75% numbers come from MCQ and 25% numbers come from essays. Weightage is given as per time allocation for whole exam. To qualify for essays window, minimum 50 MCQs need to be answered correctly. It doesn't mean that score is 50%. It will depend upon each MCQ's scaling. So in short, you need get 72% score to pass exam. Kindly refer CMA Resource Giude available on IMA site for more details.
