A Travelogue of IMA Resource Allocation ... Truly Going Global!!

Hi All -  Resource allocation, or resource optimization, is one of the most value-adding activiities performed by CMAs and management accountants globally.  For IMA, one of our key objectives is to spread awareness of our mission to certify, educate and connect the world's best management accountants.  To do so, we need to intelligently allocate staff and volunteer resources, at the global and local community (volunteer chapter) levels.

May I take you on a short global tour?  No, I am not available to book your next cruise or island adventure!

But, please READ ON ----->

IMA just concluded its very successful Middle East conference in Dubai, UAE attended by Chair Elect Brian McGuire, ICMA Senior VP Dennis Whitney, and VP of International Jim Gurowka.  Brian and Jim now move onto other Middle East locations, to meet with partners and to possibly launch new local chapters.  Dennis is moving onto Moscow for partner discussions and to be part of the new chapter launch festivities.  Chair Sandra Richtermeyer, Chair Emeritus John Brausch and incoming Chair Elect John Macaulay have all been busy with multiple visits in the U.S. to local chapters and councils.

We even are keeping our past volunteer Chairs busy.  Hon. Kim Wallin, state controller of Nevada, led a webinar on XBRL that attracted over 1,000 attendees.  Do you know that IMA offers 1-3 webinars per month with CPE, and are free to members when most other associations charge $20-$150 USD?  John Pollara spoke on behalf of IMA at Cal State, a very exciting event which invigorated the students - in addition to forming new chapters outside the U.S., many new student chapters have been formed or are in the formation process.  Students are the future of our profession!

So what have I been doing as your president and CEO?  Good question!  I have been working with our CFO Doreen Remmen, CMA and the Planning Committee to finalize the budget and strategic plan.  I have also been working on several initiatives to increase our awareness and adoption in the U.S., while sustaining our growth trajectory overseas.  And of course, doing alot of talking - to our fine staff, to partners, to volunteers and to chapters and councils.

Together, we will enable IMA to sustain its growth trajectory and achieve even greater heights for our association, for our members and for our profession.
