IMA in CPA Journal!!

Happy New Year!  I hope you had a safe and enjoyable holiday season and are back - re-charged - to "raise the bar" in achieving your personal and organizational growth objectives!

A major element of IMA's educating and advancing the global profession of management accounting is our Public Relations, Marketing and Advocacy.  We have stepped up our efforts in all areas.  In December, we had an article I authored placed in the New York State Society of CPA's national monthly publication "The CPA Journal".  This strategically is very important for IMA and our global profession.

The article focuses on the talent gap including preparing students for meaningful careers in "managerial accounting" - planning, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, risk management and more.  But this placement also is strong confirmation of IMA's view that CPAs in business, industry and government - 140,000+ strong in the U.S. - are a key part of our community and an important target market from a growth perspective.  What better way is there for a CPA to enhance their competencies in managerial accounting positions inside organizations than through IMA's global and respected certification - the CMA - and its professional development offerings, many of which offer CPE for CPAs (including our free webinars??).

Finally, this major media placement and many others are NOT about me as your president and CEO - they are about IMA and our storied profession.  Hundreds of our volunteer leaders and members have had PR placements, and that is very important for volunteer/member engagement and the "viral marketing" we need to spread the word about our profession and our association - THE Association for Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business.

Thanks,

  Jeff
